Vegan Wraps at the Ballihoo Market

With an increasing worldwide focus on reducing single use plastics, more people are turning to reusable, sustainable options in daily life. Cling film is one of the biggest household contributors, with 1.2 million metres of it being used in homes across Britain every year; enough to go around the circumference of the world 30 times over.

Cling film is created by melting tiny plastic pellets and additives. Due to the nature of this, it is very difficult to recycle, therefore most of it ends up in our landfills and unfortunately our oceans. As the pellets are a similar size to a lentil, these are often mistaken by marine wildlife as fish eggs, causing them to be accidentally consumed. More than 220 species of marine life have been shown to have ingested plastic debris.

To help to cut down on this, we have partnered with BeeBee Wraps to commissioned a limited edition range of Habitat First Group vegan wax wraps. With very similar values to our own, all of their wraps are Handmade from 100% GOTS cotton and infused with a sustainably sourced formula of beeswax, rosin and organic jojoba oil. The ‘Summer Splash’ design for these wraps has been created by our in-house designer, Nicola Burgess, using illustrations you will see at Lower Mill Estate and Silverlake.

Beeswax and vegan wraps are a highly versatile, sustainable alternative, helping to cut down on food waste: another rapidly growing global concern. Made from organic cotton, they can be given a new lease of life with a fresh coat of wax, composted, or used as a firelighter, ensuring zero waste.

Now available from the Ballihoo market, £12 for a three pack of mixed sized wraps.
